Welcome to MAM KartSport - Mitchell McLeod

Welcome to MAM KartSport!

Well it's the end of another year and the end of another chapter in my life. And a pretty big one this time. The time has come to give up something I never even imagined giving up. Karting.

Karting has been pretty good to me since I first started back in 2001, I've met some of my best mates and had some of the best times of my life. There have also been some good results along the way. There are still many meetings which I wish to of won though which I wasn't able to through either not enough budget or bad luck. One thing I hate is giving up on your goals, and I almost feel like I'm giving up on one of mine now. But there comes a point when you realise that you need to get the rest of your life on track and come back to your goals later on.

This year has been one of my best years though even though I only raced half as much as last year because of the lacking funds. Getting 3rd in the second heat of Clubman Light at the City of Melbourne was easily the best fun I've ever had in a kart before, even if the pre final did make the whole weekend tougher after fouling a plug as the lights went green dropping me from 8th to 16th in a lap.

In the end I will miss karting a hell of a lot, and will probably still go to meetings to watch and help out on club days at Rochester, still enjoying racing as much as I can, just from the other side of the fence!

Wednesday 23rd of January, 2008. I'm up ridiculously early to drive down to Melbourne for an event I've only ever dreamed of. To get behind the wheel of a race car!We arrive at Calder Park Raceway at 8:45am ready to sign in and set up for the day. Craig Hendrick is the very game owner of the car that I managed to convince to let me have my first on track experience in his own car that he's taking up to Bathurst to race in just a little over two weeks time!

Victorian Closed Championships 2007

Already a year has passed since Swan Hill where this event was held last year which is kind of hard to believe how fast this year has gone. It was just a little over a year ago when we stubled across a handling problem which we'd dialed into the kart without even realising, and our speed at the 2006 Vic Closed was a good sign of things to come.

2007 Golden Power Series Champion!

It's been a very good year for me, and winning the Golden Power Series is a great way to enter the end of the year!
The weekend started off with a second place in heat one with new Clubman Light driver Zeke Edwards taking the win. With mixed conditions it was hard to predict how the track was going to be exactly for heat two, and we might of had just a little too much grip and struggled to keep with the ultimate pase, finishing in another second place.
